Tevez gives city hope

Carlos Tevez’s brilliantly taken goal in first half stoppage time was just about enough to seal a 1-0 victory for Man city against Aston Villa. With Man united now on 71 points, city needed a win to still keep alive a mathematically possible but probably improbable chance of clenching the premier league title from Manchester United.

City were very slow to start and only started to pick up the pace towards the end of the first half. Aston Villa started the better of the two and Bentenke had a goal scoring opportunity saved by Tevez on the line. Jack Rodwell was then subbed off soon after for the popular super sub Edin Zeko. As with Dzeko, starting him from the bench paid off.Dzekos run and killer pass left Tevez with some work to do but the little Argentinian had big plans and rounded the Aston Villa keeper Guzan. Despite this, the Villa keeper made a string of saves to make him man of the match, despite the loss with Tevez a close second from his performance.

Man city now appear to be putting in the work required to maintain pressure on Manchester United but it unfortunately looks like too little too late. Only a brave man would bet against Man united at this point. It is only a matter of time. The Home side, Aston Villa now have a serious dilemma as they find themselves in a relegation battle and are in danger of going down for the first time  in 26 years. The Villa boss must now prove his worth and get the best out of Christian Benteke if he is to pull off this seasons great escape.
